Daniel Brown

Art, like life itself, is an on going process of change and renewed self-discovery. Only through continued study, observation, and knowledge can we grow as individuals and artists. The art process should focus on the fundamentals, but always find its most intrinsic value in the aesthetic experience. This, in and of itself, is the most basic and life affirming quality of the human spirit.

My life is centered around art and the creative process. As far back as I can remember this has been the driving force behind what truly motivates me. As an artist and high school art instructor, I constantly push myself and my students to explore the limits of self-discovery. Only through the creative process and grasping the fundamentals of art can this be fully understood.

The direction of my art has always been focused on the natural world and wildlife. As an avid outdoors-man and hunter, I find my greatest inspiration in the beauty of the animals and the landscapes I retreat to. One area of the U.S. that truly captures the essence of who I am as an artist and individual is the Upper Peninsula region of Michigan. For over 50 years my family has owned cabins in a remote setting west of the Mackinac Bridge. A vast majority of  my artwork captures the feeling and memories of this beautiful part of the country.

When speaking of my art and motivating factors, I must mention my wife and daughter. Without their love and support and constant inspiration, my work would have little meaning.

I have been fortunate to have early success in my regional area; however, in the last year my work has been sold into both private and public collections, ranging from Ohio and Michigan to as far east as Virginia. My goal is to become a household name within the genre of wildlife art. I hope to be able to reach the largest audience possible and share my passion with those who love and respect the outdoors as much as I.
