I'd like to think I paint flowers the way anature artist would paint birds or animals. Some of my paintings are monumentalimage flowers (where the flower fills the whole painting). Others are imaginaryperspectives from the forest floor, containing wild flowers and sometimesa faerie or two.
The individual characteristics of differentflowers are very interesting to me. If ever you take the time to reallystudy a flower; try to imagine walking into its petals and making a nicehome for yourself. You'll find this to be very relaxing --and it a greatway to take your mind away from the day to day cares and pressures of theoutside world.
This is the effect I try to accomplish withinmy work. Watercolor is my main medium, and the negative spaces are workedout before the flower is started, which gives the painting it's depth.I have actually done book illustration before, and I would really liketo do more. If you know someone that is looking for my style of work inthis field, send me an E-Mail.
