Why I am an Artist....

From the age of six, I remember the joy of receiving a Christmas present of crayons, pencils, and color books.

On my parents' farm in Michigan, I can remember climbing a tree to observe the breath taking beauty of a sunset painted by the creator, or an awakening to a crystal world with every blade of grass and every tree limb covered with ice, or begging to go out into the furor of a snow storm and thrill to the touch of nature!

The awe inspiring wonders of God's creation was something I yearned to capture with an Artist's brush at an early age...that others, too might enjoy.

My parents and my high school art teachers greatly influenced my life in developing my artistic ability. Two good husbands were also of great encouragement. But the greatest of all was the “one” who designed it a ll, and made me to be an Artist. (Ex.31:35 James 1:17)

About the Artist...

Bernadine Fields Shiplet attended Meinzinger Art School in Detroit, Michigan, and the Art Institute in Flint, Michigan. For the past 29 years she has resided in Robbinsville, North Carolina. 

Her work has been exhibited through one-artist showings in Banks, Spas, Nature Attractions and North Carolina resort areas. She has been represented in galleries in St. Louis, MO; Largo and Clearwater, FL, and has paintings in private collections from Canada to Florida.

Bernadine's custom-designed murals can be seen in restaurants, Country Clubs, and private homes in the Clearwater, Florida area. She has designed Church windows and Church murals and has done many “Chalk Talks” for various church groups in the USA and on the Mission Field in the Dominican Republic.

She taught Adult Art Classes in Robbinsville, North Carolina, through Tri County Community College; also in Pinellas County, Florida, through the Pinellas County School System; and at the Beach Art Center in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.
