Ever since I was 4 years old, I was drawing with my dad's pencil, a small box of crayons, and later with his Parker ink pen. Growing up, I would sit at his desk in the back of our family grocery store in Southern California and draw on butcher paper. I drew people and characters from my mind or from looking at old Life magazines or comic books. I was inspired in art by my father. I admire the work of Andrew Wyeth, Winslow Homer, and Georgia O'Keefe. I won an “Honorable Mention” in the 200th Anniversary of San Diego Poster Contest in 1969.
After receiving a B.A. in art, I soon returned to San Diego State University to obtain my Secondary Teaching Credential in art education in 1975.
I am currently teaching in a studio in St. Charles, Minnesota. My philosophy is that art is everywhere and to keep an open, positive, creative mind! Anyone at any age can discover their own unique style, subject, or medium. Learning is a life-long process.
My favorite subjects are landscapes, seascapes, abstract and objective designs. My main mediums are acrylic, watercolor and oil pastel. |
