I paint because of the feeling of joy and oneness I experience while using splashes of color to express my delight in the sight of our beautiful world. The astounding beauty of nature seems to beckon me, as I experience the peace and glory of god's gift to us.
I began oil painting in my early twenties as a hobby when I was living in the splendor of Oregon's pristine countryside. I took a brief oil painting class, painted my first oil painting and have continued painting with self guided study and observations, as well as learned from workshops with many talented fellow artists along the way.
The masters of French impressionism have inspired me most and I have recently studied Alla prima palette knife techniques with my mentor and friend, Lucille DeThomas who I will be forever grateful to. For her guidance, encouragement and her faith in my abilities to paint in a more colorful and expressive style, I am obliged.
I think we would all be happier if we stopped more and sang nature's song with her, felt the love of our creator deep inside ourselves and in the harmony of nature all around us. It is this glorious feeling that I seek to share with others through my oil paintings.
