Antonio Hurtado Spanish Artist

Antonio Hurtado was born in Angola, November 1938, to a Portuguese mother and a Spaniard father. He studied Engineering in Coimbra and Lisbon, Portugal. In the nineties he lived in Eleuthera, Bahamas. He is self-taught in oil painting and was an apprentice under Bahamian artist and friend Eddie Minnis. Antonio has shown his work at exhibitions in Bahamian art galleries “Brushstrokes” and “Princess Margaret Street” located on Harbour Island. He had an individual exhibit sponsored by the Municipality of Haria, Lanzarote, Spain, in 2003. Today he makes his home on the Canary Islands.

Inspired by nature Antonio likes to depict natural and intelligible scenes and has a total commitment to detail. The object of each painting (either birds, flowers or landscapes) is taken from nature and the real world in an effort to simply describe its enchanting beauty without any interpretations.
